What is Nolan?
Nolan is Wery's directing specialist, responsible for the early planning of long-form and complex videos: story direction, director proposal, scripts, scenes, storyboards, shot lists and production handoffs.
When to use Nolan
As long as the video is more than just a short shot, Nolan should be considered.
- 30-90 seconds brand video, product video, promotional video.
- Requires plot, narration, interviews, sub-scenes or multiple shots.
- You need to confirm the story direction before entering generation.
- There are mature scripts or storyboards that need to be converted into production plans.
- Material generation, video generation and final synthesis need to be advanced in stages.
Director workflow
Nolan's output goes through the confirmation gate.
- Collection objectives: Video purpose, audience, duration, language, platform, and style.
- Propose a director's proposal: story angle, mood, visual direction and key structure.
- Generate a Step 1 script: including narration, scenes, pacing, and narrative.
- Generate Step 2 storyboards: a picture plan for each scene and shot.
- Once confirmed it goes to production: footage, footage and final composition.
- Leave it to Komp to do subtitles, scale and release packaging.
Materials and references
Nolan can use images, videos, documents, web pages, branding assets and mature scripts, but must be clear about the purpose of each asset.
- Logo/brand image: used for visual constraints.
- Product Video: Used to reference actions, textures or shots.
- Script: used to preserve the narrative and should not be rewritten haphazardly.
- Web pages/information: used for factual background and need to be read and organized first.
- Music direction: It can be left to Lydi to complete the work.
Differences from Vlo
Vlo generates fragments, and Nolan manages the structure of the entire film.
- If you just want an 8 second shot, use Vlo.
- If you want a full 60 second commercial, use Nolan.
- If you already have footage that you want to cut into a version, use Komp.
- If you want to write the script and storyboard first, and then generate the shots, use Nolan.

FAQ
Q: Will Nolan directly generate the final video?
It is responsible for the planning and advancement of long video production links, with the final generation being staged and potentially handed over to Vlo/Komp.
Q: I already have a script, do I still need Nolan?
Required when storyboarding, shot planning or production handover is required. Use Komp to only edit existing videos.
Q: Is Nolan suitable for short videos?
If just one short shot is not suitable; if the short video requires plot and multiple shots, you can also use Nolan planning.
Q: Why do you need to confirm the script and storyboards first?
Long videos are expensive, so confirming the structure first can reduce subsequent redoing.
Q: Can I use brand materials?
Yes. Logo, color swatches, product images, web pages and historical videos can all be used as references.
